Enjoy Being The Victim

Today I would like review an old article that I written before.

I wrote this article at year 2012 and published it at Investalks forum,
and now I decided to paste it here and translate into English language,
also adding some current thoughs.

The starting of old article:

I believe that everyone had some sort of bad experiences such as being bullied by,
being cheated by, being ignored by other people.

We had become VICTIM for a few times.

However,
WE CAN CHOOSE.

We can choose to talk about our stories of being a VICTIM every time,
and enjoy being sympathized by others.

We can choose to make our VICTIM stories as a motivation to push us moving forward,
using our bad past experiences as an engine.

However,
please remember the LAW OF ATTRACTION.

If we pay more attentions at being a VICTIM,
if we kept talking about our VICTIM stories,
if we kept using our VICTIM experiences to push us moving forward.........

At last,
we will just attract more bad things coming to ourselves.

Will we be happy with that?

I didn't say this is wrong,
and I am not trying to hint someone else,
I am here to remind me who was a VICTIM.

The rich believe that:
"Life has choice, and I choose how I will live my life."

The poor believe that:
"Life happens to me, I have no choice, I can't choose........"

So.....
I will not kept talking about my VICTIM stories,
and I will not use it as a motivation to push me moving forward.

This,
is my choice.

The end of old article.

I wrote this article at year 2012,
6 years have passed since then,
and I still think the same.

For all these years,
I met a lot of people,
and realized that a lot of them enjoy being the VICTIM.

Those who still studying,
when their school result is bad,
they will play the VICTIM and blame the bad teaching of their school teacher.

Those who working,
when they feel that their money is not enough,
they will play the VICTIM and blame the mismanagement by the government.

Of course,
just like what I mentioned before,
being a VICTIM enabled us to blame other people instead of blaming ourselves,
we will feel less burden mentally.

This is human's natural,
to choose a road which is more comfortable for themselves.

Luckily,
we couldn't change the school teacher,
but we changed the government.

Since now the government has changed,
all the VICTIM are very happy,
since the CULPRIT that they assumed is gone.

As time goes by,
all the VICTIM will soon realize that their lives do not improve a lot.

So..............
will they continue to being the VICTIM,
and blame the new government?

Or.........
will they realize,
and no more enjoying being the VICTIM,
work hard to change their own lives?

Same like investment.

If you lost money in investment,
will you play the VICTIM and blame the government?
Blame the trend?
Blame the gurus?

Or..........
will you stop playing as VICTIM,
take up your own responsibility and no more blaming others?

Is all up to your own choice.

Investment is about doing own thinking, making own decision.

Thanks for reading.

Investing and Emotional Control

Today I would like to review one of the article that I written before.

An old article that I wrote at year 2013 and published at Investalks forum,

just a few paragraphs,
but I added some new sentences at the end of the old article.

So.....
old article starts here:

Some people learnt to invest in shares,
but didn't learn how to control their emotion.

They bought a shares and aimed to hold it for long term.
HOWEVER..............
they let their emotion controlled them.

When they worried that the shares price will drop tomorrow,
they sold the shares.

After selling it,
they worried again that the shares price will rise tomorrow,
so they bought it back.

After buying it,
they again worried that the shares price will drop tomorrow,
so they sold it again.

After selling it,
they worried again that the shares price will rise tomorrow,
so they bought it back.

Buying, selling, buying, selling, buying, selling, buying, selling, buying, selling,

They repeated it over and over again,
at the end the one who earned the most money,
is their remisier.

The main problem is not about buying and selling.

The thing is,
how to be stable emotionally after buying or selling a shares.

Don't be controlled by emotion,
instead,
control your emotion.

The end of old article.

Looking back at my old article,
even now I still think the same.

For all these years,
I always invest like a robot,
I set a plan and followed through it,
so that I was able to minimize myself from being influenced by my emotion.

Of course,
this was not the perfect way,
but atleast I prevented myself from making investment decision just because I felt like doing it.

To control our investment,
first we need to control our emotion.

Then,
only we are able to think and to decided rationally.

TO WIN or NOT TO LOSE

Today I would like to review one of the article that I written before.

An old article that I wrote at year 2012 and published at Investalks forum,
just a few paragraphs,
but I added some new sentences at the end of the old article.

Old article begins:

“Investment is a PLAN to WIN, not just only PLAN not to LOSE. ”

For examples:

Few weeks before the exam,
some people studied just to avoid getting a F,
some people studied because they wanted to get an A.

So, will there be any difference in their exam results?

Same for doing presentation.
Some people prepared presentation because it is one of their work,
some people prepared presentation because they wanted to present something in its best way.

So, will there be any difference in their actual presentation?

Same for a soccer match.
Some players played the game thinking to avoid losing,
some players played the game thinking to win.

So, will there be any difference in their plays in the match?

Same for investment.
Some investors invested to avoid losing money,
some investors invested to earn a lot more money.

So, will there be any difference in their investment performances?

I didn't have an exact answer for it,
just write it out here to share my thinking.

End of old article.

Well...........
If I remembered correctly,
the reason why I wrote the above articles last time was because of this sentence:
“Rule No.1:Never Lose Money.
Rule No.2: Never forget Rule No.1.”

At that time,
I realized that a lot of people kept mentioning that rules,
and even treated it as their bible, the only road to success in investment.

After seeing everyone kept mentioning it,
I started to have some doubts....

Don't misunderstand......
I didn't say that there is problem with that rules,
it is just...............
Never lose money, is it enough?
Never lose money, only earn 1%-2%, is it really enough?

It is like in school where the teacher taught us a Maths formula,
then we just simply memorized it without any understanding,
and used that formula to solve questions and homeworks done!

But..............
Is it enough?
Is it okay to just using the formula without any understanding?
Is it okay not to think about how the formula was formed?
Is it okay that we only learn the surface of any knowledge?
Is it okay that we don't study deeper about something?
Is it okay that we don't broaden our knowledge?
Is it okay that we keeping ourselves at Level 1 and not upgrade to Level 2?

Never lose money in investment, is it enough already?

Investment is about doing own thinking, making own decision.

A step closer for becoming a writer.

PS: This article has nothing to do with shares investment, more like my personal experience lately.

If followed my blog closely,
you will realize that during February this year,
most of the articles I wrote were about financial report,
which didn't require me to spend a lot of times on it.

Yeah,
because I was very busy that time.

What was I busy for??

Well...........
I spent around one month time,
wrote 120 pages of script,
submitted it to a Web Drama Contest which organized by a Crowdfunding platform~

After waiting for 3 months,
the result was out finally:

My script <<DREAMER>> shared the 2nd place with another writer~
(sorry I need to cover my real name.........-_-)

I started to write novel and upload it online since I was in secondary school,
and I stopped writing when I entered university.

Early this year,
I saw the announcement of this Web Drama Contest.
I had no experience of writing any script before,
so I quickly learnt about the format,
and spent 1 week to draft the story,
finished writing the script within 3 weeks time.

For that 3 weeks,
my uncle passed away,
and there was celebration of Chinese New Year,
but I still managed to finish writing the script.

According to the winning rule,
I am now an affiliated writer for the Crowdfunding platform,
and my script will be produced into web drama at the future.

Please give a lot of supports when the crowdfunding project of my web drama started~
and please support the web drama after it was produced~

Thanks for reading.

As for my health,
I now eating more healthier food and my weight dropped form 65kg to 63kg~
I will be looking forward for next medical check-up~

As for my scoliosis,(thoracic 10.9 degree, lumbar 17.6 degree.)
I found a TCM who specialize in spine for treatment.

After 3 treatments,
even though I still woke up after sleeping for 5-6hours due to back pain,
but comparing with before,
the pain reduced significantly.

Not only that,
my knees is getting better and my neck pain reduced a lot too,
so I will continue to go for treatments with that TCM.

That's all for today,
thanks for everyone who supported me.

Some thoughts lately...............

PS: This article has nothing to do with investment, just some sharing on what happened to me lately.

So....................
since the change of government,
Malaysia shares market kept rising,
and the shares price of the companies that I invested also rose a lot,
so I should be very happy...........
However I didn't feel that much happy..........

WHY?

Starting at end of March,
I always woke up at the middle of night due to back pain,
and no matter which sleeping posture I tried also can feel the pain,
so I was forced to stand up or sit for 1 hour,
then the pain will go away,
only I am able to fall sleep again.

First,
the doctor suspected that it might be kidney problem,
so we did a medical check up,
and found that all my organs functioning normally.

HOWEVER.............

We also found out that my LDL is 3.2 (normally should be lower than 2.6),
and fasting blood glucose level is 5.4 (normally should be lower than 5.4),
I went to do medical check up to find out the reason behind my pain,
but ended up discovering something else................-_-

After confirming it is not organs problem,
the doctor gave me painkiller for 1 week,
he said it should be muscle problem,
just give some times to rest.

After 1 week plus,
the pain still occurs at the middle of my sleep,
so the doctor recommended me to take a X-ray.

Guess what??
I have scoliosis!!

I went to take X-ray to find out the reason behind my back pain,
but ended up discovering something else...........again -_-

So now back pain,
high LDL, high fasting blood glucose level, scoliosis.

Even though the value of my investment portfolio rose a lot,
but I didn't feel really happy......

Since,
being healthy still the most important in my life.

Everyone please don't neglect your health while busy earning money.

Thanks for reading.

The 1st shares trading day after G.E.

The voting day for Malayisa General Election was held at 9th May,
and Malaysia shares market only resumed the trading day at 14th May.

Since today was the 1st trading day after changing the government,
so I will write something down here for this remarkable day.

Before the voting day,
my investment return was ROA=5.15%, ROE=6.18%.

After trading hour ended today,
my investment return is ROA=9.96%, ROE=11.95%,
almost doubled.

My return for today were mainly contributed by:
AEON (+41sen)
AEONCR (+42sen)
HUPSENG (+10sen)
LPI (+38sen)
NESTLE (+RM5.80)
PANAMY (+RM1.10)

I also sold some portion of AEON shares that I bought at RM2.02,
sold at RM2.38,
and now RM2.45.........................

As for what will happen to the shares market at the future?

For me,
whatever at the future is always "UNKNOWN".
However,
I will continue to put more than 100% of my capital in the shares market.

Oh yeah,
even though I already knew this since long time ago,
but after today I am confirmed that.............
NEVER TOUCH GLC COMPANIES.

There are so many good companies in Malaysia shares market,
so why should we put ourselves at risk to invest at Government-Linked Companies?

But.................
who knows,
maybe GLC companies will be a good investment at the future after changing government?

Investment is about doing own thinking, making own decision.

The cost of investment is much higher than what we thought

Clarification:

I am just trying to flip the coin, to discuss about something what we usually ignored it. This article is full with my personal opinion, so feel free to close this article whenever you feel sicked and wanted to vomit, please bear in mind that I am not pointing you with a gun to force you to finish reading it.

By just looking at the topic,

if you are assuming that I will be talking about brokerage fees.....................
Then you don't understand me~

How would I waste the precious time for some old topics like brokerage fees?

And if I really want to write about brokerage fees,
I might flip the coin and mention the benefits of higher brokerage fees~

Anyway,

let's get back to today's topic.

If want to buy 1 lot of NESTLE,

how much is the actual money that we need to earn?

Now the shares price of NESTLE is around RM135,

1 lot = 100 shares,
so 100 x RM135 = RM13500.

Plus other fees like brokerage fees,

round it up,
should be around RM14000.

So is it that if we earn RM14000,

then we are able to buy 1 lot of NESTLE?

No no no,

we need to earn at least RM17000 to RM18000 so that you can buy 1 lot of NESTLE!
This is because there is another cost that everyone ignored..........

Before revealing what is it,
let me announce where did I get the idea for this article~

Recently I went to bookshop and found that Robert Kiyosaki,
the author of <<Rich dad, Poor dad>> has released a new book,
the title is <<Why the rich are getting richer>>,
of course I started to read it.

The most recent part I read,
the author mentioned that if the down payment for a property is $100,000,
then we need to earn at least $120,000 to $130,000 !

WHY?

Because of T....A......X.........
TAX!

We need to earn $120,000 to $130,000 ,
after submitting the taxes like income tax,
then only left with $100,000 to buy the property.

So same concept,
to buy 1 lot of NESTLE,
we need to earn RM17000 to RM18000,
submitted income tax and other taxes,
then only left with RM14000 to buy 1 lot of NESTLE.

Alright,
the answer is revealed,
how did you feel about it?

Some people might think that it is useless, rubbish and boring,
but some might realized something.

I was actually quite fascinated,
because I realized that my cost of investment is much lower than many investors.

Why did I say like that?
This is because the money I used to buy shares do not need to submit for income tax.
ATTENTION!! I DID SUBMIT INCOME TAX!!
Just that........
the money I used to invest is encouraged, so no tax on it.

For examples like buying 1 lot of NESTLE,
I don't need to work hard to earn RM17000-RM18000,
after submitted for income tax,
only can use the remaining RM14000 to buy NESTLE.

What I needed to do........
is just use the RM14000 from my SMF account to buy NESTLE~
No need any extra money,
just RM14000 is enough already,
since the government will not ask me to pay any tax for that RM15000.

Same 1 lot of NESTLE,
my cost is exactly RM14000,
but for some other people the cost is as high as RM17000-RM18000.

This is the difference of using cash to invest or using debt to invest.

Of course,
I am not totally against everyone to use cash to invest,
I am not encouraging everyone to just simply use debt to invest.

As like what Robert Kiyosaki mentioned in his book,
he wished to help everyone to gain more financial knowledge,
to understand the TAX and not just hating the TAX.

And think..........
Why need to pay tax if we earn money?
Why no need to pay tax if we borrow money?

Investment is about doing own thinking, making own decision.

Thanks for reading.

Cutting down trees by using a small knife

Today I would like to review an old article that I wrote at year 2013,
and add some new ideas.

Old article starts here:

Some people only own a small knife,
but still wants to use it to cut down a tree.
So they tried very hard to cut the down,
and put into a lot of times in studying the best way to cut a tree,
how much strength should I use?
Which angle should I cut?
Is it that I need to continuously cutting it 24 hours no rest?

Actually................
the best way is to find a sharp axe,
then only can cut down the free faster and more efficiently.

The key of facing a bear market,
is when it comes,
what will you be holding in your hand to face it?

A small knife?
An axe?
A gun?
A pistol?
A submachine gun?
A Grenade?
A nuclear bomb?

Not only that,
experience also plays an important role at facing bear market.

If you are lack of experience,
even though you have a grenade in your hand when the bear appears in front of you,
but your hand keeps shaking and not dare to throw the grenade because you are lack of practice,
you can't survive the attack from the bear.

However,
if you have a lot of experience and always practice how to shoot,
even though the bear appears suddenly in front of you,
you will not panic and just take out your gun to shoot the bear,
and kill the bear.

That's why I think experience is important too.

Someone with strong weapon and a lot of experience is the best.

End of old article.

So.........
what exactly is the small knife?
How about the tree?

I think a lot of people already figured out,
small knife meant low income,
tree meant a lot of money.

Basically,
if the income is too low,
every month can only save two to three hundred dollars to invest,
but hoping to earn million of dollars in shares market,
is equal to try to cut  down a tree by using a small knife.

Instead of spending most of the time in studying shares investment,
is better to spend those times in trying to increase the income or getting more investment capital,
throw the small knife and get an axe,
then can cut down the tree quicker.

I learnt this not long after graduating from university,
that's why I never go to get a job,
for me the job salary is like a toothpick,
how many years and months I need to cut down a tree by using toothpick?

Then investing experience is important too.

Even though you have million of dollars,
but having a lot of money doesn't mean you automatically become a good investor.

Let's say you bought a shares during bear market,
the shares price dropped again, and you sold it because you are scare.
Then you buy again, and sell again when it drops,
again and again,
you will end up losing all the money no matter how many money you have.

The worst case?
Buying the worst company shares during bear market.

So when will the bear market comes?

I DON'T KNOW, I AM NOT GOD.

Like what I mentioned in my article <<My investment strategy for upcoming General Election>> which published at 6th April 2018,
The important thing is to HAVE A PLAN.

Plan well.
If bear market does comes, I will bla bla bla............
If bear market doesn't comes, I will bla bla bla..............

I will show you some bad planning:
1)If bear doesn't comes, I will ALL IN in shares market, earn as much as I can.
If bear does comes, I will cry and complain everyday, then go find my mum for help.

2)If bear does comes, I will use all the money I prepared to buy all the shares of good companies.
If bear doesn't comes, I will just keep on waiting, and ask people everyday the same question: Is the bear coming?
Wait for 10 years, all the people around me already gotten rich by investing in shares, and I am still waiting...........

Those are the bad plannings in my opinion~

Anyway,
think carefully, plan carefully,
then only invest.

Investment is about doing own thinking, making own decision.

Thanks for reading.

My investment strategy for upcoming General Election

I believe everyone also agree that General Election will be very soon, right?
So even though I am not a very fashionable person,
but since G.E. is coming soon,
of course I need to follow the trend and write an investment article about G.E..

Before start talking about the coming G.E.,
is better to review how did I invest in previous G.E.,
used some pass stories to perfect myself,
so that everyone will think that I am genius .............LOL just joking~

Anyway,
I started to invest since year 2011,
so the G.E. in year 2013 was my first time to experience it as a shares investor,
actually that was also my first time as a voter.

I remember that before the voting date,
the shares market was covered by tensed and nervous atmosphere,
a lot of people sold most of their shares,
holding a lot of cash in preparation of a bear market after election day.

At that time I was very impressed by them,
Wow.... you all can predict the movement of the market at the future,
must be some genius.

As for me,
I ALL IN at shares market with my cash, and used some SMF,
which meant that even I ALL IN already,
but I still can buy more shares if correction did happen after election day.

Then,
G.E. ended, the result were out.

The next day, the shares market was totally greenish.

The market value of my investment portfolio,
greatly increased within 1 month,
coupled with the money I earned from active income,
my portfolio value was increased by around 40%.

That was what happened before and after G.E. year 2013.

How was it?
I dared to ALL IN at shares market before G.E.,
and earned a lot of money after election day,
did I look like a genius in investment?

Okay,
before you start to bow down before me and worship me,
I have to admit that I am not God,
I couldn't predict the movement of shares market.

At that time,
I had no idea what will the election result be,
and also I didn't know what will happen to the shares market after election.

For me,
everything that will happens at the future are all "UNKNOWN".

Anyway,
at that time a lot of people chose to sell shares and hold cash,
most probably because of the shocking election result at year 2008,
which caused a huge correction at shares market.

At that time,
a question rose within myself,
yeah is alright if you keep cash just in case there is correction,
but what if no correction?
Instead, the market become bullish?
Then those money that you were able to earn all , right?

Thinking that the shares market confirm will have correction right after G.E.,
it was like you are gambling and put all your bets on the correction of shares market.

Anyway,
it is worthy to try though~
You will have 1/3 chance to be correct since shares market will only has 3 outcomes:
rise, drop or no changes.

Wow,
you always have 1/3 chance to bet correctly,
the winning chance is so high,
no wonder so many people treating shares market as casino~

Anyway,
I always think that INVESTMENT IS NOT GAMBLING, IS A PLAN.

Since it is a plan,
then we must plan carefully.
After election, if the shares market drops, I will bla bla bla...............
After election, if the shares market rises, I will bla bla bla...............
After election, if no changes at the shares market, I will bla bla bla...............

By considering all the possible outcomes and how will you react to each possible situation,
then that is what I called it as a PLAN,
A PLAN FOR INVESTMENT.

I believe everyone learnt about Decision / Probability Tree during high school era:
Yeah right,
those Maths question like the probability of picking blue ball,
then the probability of picking red ball.
Or the probability that it will rain or not, then the probability of being late.

You can see that even for a thing which has a very very low probability,
we still put it into the Tree for calculation,
because we need to include all the probabilities.

However,
when come to investment,
everyone suddenly 100% confirm that this stock for sure will drops, that one for sure will rises,
the thinking mode became one straight line only:
Only consider about blue balls, ignoring the red balls,
ignoring all other possibilities.

This kind of knowledge which not only useful in investment, but also in our lives,
since we already learnt at school,
why don't we apply it now?

That's all for the Maths lesson.

Anyway,
During year 2013,
my plan was like this:
After election, if the shares market rises, at least I already ALL IN my cash, so I won't miss the chance to earn money.
After election, if no changes at the shares market, I will just earn more money through my active income then pump it into shares market.
After election, if shares market drops, I will use SMF to buy more shares.

Plan carefully before election.

So what will happen to the shares market after the coming G.E. ?

My prediction is the market will rises, or drops, or no changes,
one of the three that I mentioned,
confirmed one will come true.

You don't believe me?
Well, just wait until the election ended,
then come to read this article again,
you will realized that my prediction was so correct,
since I am a genius.................
LOL just joking~

Actually............
I should try to predict the movement of shares market after G.E.,
is okay I predict wrongly since the followers of this blog is not a lot,
but if I predict correctly,
then I will become popular,
and everyone will worships me as God of Investment,
until one day my identity as a Fake God of Investment is discovered~

OKAY,
I shouldn't continue to waste everyone's precious time.
Sorry for my lame joke.

Anyway,
my investment plan for this coming G.E. will be the same as previous time.
If you still don't know what my plan is,
please go to bed and have a sleep,
after you woke up and be more energized,
then re-read this article please~

So............what's your investment plan for the coming G.E.?

Thanks for reading.
