PANAMY 2nd Quarter 2018 Financial Result

PANAMY released the 2nd quarter financial report few days ago,
I quickly took a look at it as soon as it released,
and I was disappointed at the revenue....

Frankly speaking,

the result is truly disappointing,
especially after PANAMY delivered a very strong quarter result previously........

Let's have a look at the Segmental Reporting:
The profit of the Home Appliance products recovered.
So the drop of the revenue is mainly because of decrease in sales of fan products.....
Especially in Malaysia market:

Well,
at least the revenue from Middle East bounced back.

The management team also mentioned that drop of sales of fans products is because of decline in demand in domestic market......

But they did said that the condition improved in 3rd quarter with increased marketing & promotional activities.

No matter how,
looks like PANAMY still doing fine for export market~

Although the financial result is not satisfying,
but at least dividend had been declared:

Only 15 sen though..........
Well I already gotten used to it after holding PANAMY shares for so many years.

As a conclusion,
the drop of revenue are caused by decline in demand of fans products in Malaysia and rising cost.

The question now is........
can the sales of fans products bounce back at next quarter?
Will the high cost become a new "normal" for PANAMY?

Investment is about doing own thinking, making own decision.

Thanks for reading.

I don't provide any buying/selling suggestion above,
please make your own investment decision and be responsible with it.

Segmental Reporting:
Home Appliance

Good Debt VS Bad Debt

Let me clarify something first,
I am not an accountant,
so this article is just my personal opinion,
it doesn't mean that everyone need to agree with me.

D
E
B
T

DEBT.

How are you feeling whenever you heard the word "DEBT"?

Scare? Hate? Feeling bad until want to vomit?

Actually a lot of people dislike DEBT,
because they will headache when thinking about repaying the installment of the DEBT,
so they decided to stay as far away as they can.

However,
most of the things in our lives are related with DEBT.
We need housing loan to buy a house,
we need car loan to buy a car,
we need education loan so that we can graduate from university or college,
even the credit card that we always bringing with us,
is also a DEBT.

Many people hate DEBT,
so they trying to stay away from it even a small credit card,
this caused them to have a blank record of credit rating.
It will be hard for the bank to approve their housing loan or car loan,
because the bank can't find out about their credit rating,
in turns it become hard for them to buy the house or car they like.

In order to have a better credit rating so that the bank will be easier to approve our loan applications,
is better to have some DEBT and make sure you clear the installment every month.

So instead of avoiding DEBT,
why can't we try to see the other side of the coin,
change our mind and accept DEBT?

Of course,
I do not suggest simply borrowing money.
This is because there are two types of DEBT,
GOOD DEBT and BAD DEBT.

GOOD DEBT,
are the DEBT that can help us to achieve our financial goals faster.

For example,
we borrow money from the bank to buy house for investment.
After using the rental to repay the installment and there is still some money left,
which means POSITIVE CASHFLOW,
then this housing loan is actually a GOOD DEBT.

One more example.
A company need a large capital for expansion,
but the company does not has enough cash,
so borrow some money from the bank.
After the expansion is done,
the company earned a lot of money,
more than enough to repay the DEBT,
then it is a GOOD DEBT too.

At the other way round,
BAD DEBT will not only stop us from achieving our financial goals,
causing financial lagging,
and even worse.... bankrupt.

Let me give an example that everyone knows,
borrow money to buy a car.

The value of the car will drops as soon as you started driving it.
Borrowing money to buy something that the value keep dropping is an example of BAD DEBT.

Please be clear that I didn't say everyone shouldn't buy a car.
Just.....
we need to know that car loan is a BAD DEBT,
so is better to review our income and expenses,
before actually buying a car.
Especially nowadays many youngsters declared bankruptcy because unable to pay back the car loan.

After learning more about GOOD DEBT and BAD DEBT,
then is time to start thinking....
how to use GOOD DEBT to help us achieve our financial goals.

This topic is actually a very common topic that everyone knows,
but the question is.....
how many of us are actually using GOOD DEBT to do what we know??

The actual reason why I purposely write a DEBT related article,
is because of my future articles.

Thanks for reading.

I don't provide any buying/selling suggestion above,

Hartalega 2nd Quarter 2018 Financial Report

Today I would like to talk about Hartalega.

Recently the share price of Hartalega skyrocketed,
and I felt so jealous,
because I do not own any Hartalega shares

So why the share price of Hartalega can ignores the gravity and keep rising?

Let us see their latest financial report:

I invested for so long,
this is the first time I saw a company that has such an amazing growth O_o

Revenue grew 33.8% but the profit before tax increased by 63.9% !!

Increase in sales volume + improvement in productivity,
no wonder the growth of profit is so wonderful!

Plant 1, 2, 3 of NGC are fully operating,
and Plant 4 started to operate,
the growth is just scary~

Future prospects:

Plant 4 of NGC is in progressive commissioning,
construction of Plant 5 is started,
all these means that the demand will keep rising in the future~

With the announcement of new innovation product,
the future is so bright and wonderful for Hartalega.

But here comes the question,
the share price already rose to RM9.35.
I didn't buy it last time when it was at RM5-RM6,
am I going to buy it now when it is above RM9 ??

Investment is about doing own thinking, making own decision.

Thanks for reading.

I don't provide any buying/selling suggestion above,
please make your own investment decision and be responsible with it.

Hartalega 2018

Hartalega,

The Importance Of Long Term Sustainability

I believe we all heard about all these things before:

Someone earned a large sum of money from share investment in a very short period of time,
and then lost it at the share market,
after that earned a lot again,
but at the end still lost it in share investment.
Like riding a roller coaster, sometimes earn, sometimes lose money.

Or,
someone successfully reduced a lot of weights in a very short period of time,
but the weight bounced back again in a blink of eyes.

Or,
someone went to gym almost everyday to workout,
successfully gained a lot of muscles and 6 packs of abs.
But very fast, the abs all gathered again to become 1 instead of 6,
all the muscles also became loosen....

Of course,
there were a lot reasons to cause someone lost something in a short period of time.

But I think one of the reason,
is because those people ignored the importance of long term sustainability,,
they used those methods that can't sustain for a long period of time.

Some people hoped to reduce weights fast,
so they went for drastic diet,
yes they successfully became thinner in a short period of time,
but they can't continue the drastic diet,
so their weights quickly bounced back,
some even destroyed their bodies because of drastic diet.

Same goes for people who wanted to build muscle and 6 packs of abs,
everyday ate the same chicken breast and vegetable, zero oil.
Yes they can do it in a short period of time,
but can you continue doing it for the rest of your life?

Of course,
I am not opposing diet or weight training.
I also doing weight training,
but I am not aiming for short term,
I am not rushing to join fitness contest anyway,
what I want is to be able to exercise until the day I die,
so I didn't over limiting my diet,
and always beware of my workout postures to prevent injuries,
I am aiming for long term.

What I want to say is.......
there are many methods in the world,
but are you sure that the method you are using right now can be sustained for long term?

Same goes for investment,
that's why I chose long term investment.
This is because long term investment has higher confirmability for huge profits.

Just take a look at those companies that I am investing now:
NESTLE, AEONCR, PBBANK, LPI, F&N and some more,
all these companies are either producing products or services that consumers needed for long term.

This is my investment method,
long term investing at companies that are able to survive for long term and the profits are long term sustainable.

That's why I never go for companies that suddenly profit grew just because a land is sold or other short term reasons.
All these profits are not long term sustainable.

Of course,
I am not opposed to short term investment.
I think there are short term investment methods that can profit for long term instead of sometimes earn money but sometimes lose money.
Just look for investment methods that the profits are long term sustainable.

Since,
investment is a marathon race and we will be investing for the rest of our lives.

Thanks for reading.

I don't provide any buying/selling suggestion above,

NESTLE, AEONCR,PBBANK, LPI, F&N

HUPSENG 3rd Quarter Financial Report 2017

The 3rd quarter financial report of HUPSENG just released few days ago.
There was some growth on the revenue,
but same like NESTLE,
the rising cost of sales eroded the profit:

Also, the selling and marketing expenses also increased,
all these had caused the profit after tax to be slightly lower than last year quarter 3....

The thing is if the selling & marketing expenses didn't increase,
will revenue of HUPSENG grows that much?

Details of revenue growth:

I was surprised to see that domestic sales has a strong growth of 16%!!

However the export sales which I expected the most..... was reduced,
especially Myanmar there........

Always the same contents....

Surprisingly:

There will be a dividend of 2 sen for this quarter!
Even though the entitlement date is not announced yet,
but still feel good to be able to receive dividend~

Hopefully the export market can be recovered soon,
and successfully penetrating into China market~

Thanks for reading.

I don't provide any buying/selling suggestion above,
please make your own investment decision and be responsible with it.

Selling & marketing expenses,

The first company that I invested in my life, AEON

This article was written at 31st July 2011.

I transferred it from the investment forum to here,
translated it into english,
and added some latest opinion about AEON.

Old article:

December 2010.

There was holiday for one month of my university,
many people chose to work part time during holiday,
but I chose the road less traveled,
and studied about subjects that we were going to learn for final semester after holiday ended.

I decided to be well prepared because I heard that those subjects for final semester will be super hard.

As a result,

I spent the most relaxing semester in my university life,
my classmates always came to me when they didn't understand something,
and I achieved the best semester result in my university life....

Oooops, sorry for out of topic....

Anyway,

while I was preparing for final semester during the one month holiday,
I also started to learn about share investment.

Basically everyday....

I went to search information about share investment from books and internet.
I read Cold Eye's articles,
also from the investment forum I read articles by:
8k, Nifong, Hutu, Erge, Thermofisher, 8years, tan81, Nightkid, tyche6.

Then I decided to start with fundamental analysis.

So now the question is.....

which company should I begin with?

I asked myself:

"If I can open a shop, what kind of business I would like to do?"

My answer was:

"I want to open a shopping mall, inside it can be any shops that I like."

So my choices are.....

AEON and PARKSON.

Personally I prefer AEON more since I always went there,

so my pick was AEON.
Of course later I also studied about Parkson.

At 1st,

I went to Bursa website to download their latest annual report and read.

How I read?

Well.... just read only.
From the 1st page until the last page.

Anything I don't know, I googled.
I am determined to finish reading this annual report.

After reading it,

I realized that AEON has good fundamental,
revenue and profit were good,
new shopping centers were lining up to open,
still a lot of potentials.

Erm, GOOD.

Buy?
Wait...... let me read other annual reports first.

So I downloaded AEON annual report for year 1999 from Bursa website.

Oh no!

AEON lost money at year 1998!

Then I calmed down and thought.....

financial crisis landed at Malaysia at year 1998,
so is forgivable to lose money,
and AEON still distributed dividend to shareholders that particular year.
Some more the next year 1999 AEON earned a lot of profits,
more than to cover the lost at year 1998.

Okay good,
so I decided to continue studying about AEON.

Later my university holiday ended and I went back to schol,
at the same time I spent two whole weeks to finish reading AEON annual reports from year 1999 until year 2009.
I also went through quarter financial reports for the pass five years which equivalent to 20 reports,
and recorded down important numbers on excel.

In this process,
I learnt how to read the important points only from annual report,
thus increased my reading speed.

At the same time,
I opened a CDS account,
and bought AEON shares near the end of January.

I only spent around 30% of my investment capital and I bought at RM6.33.
 (after bonus issue is RM1.5825.)

What happened later?
The share price dropped.......

It dropped until RM6.10,
then something bad happened!

Japan earthquake plus the danger of nuclear leaking,
so Malaysia share market was bearish,
AEON dropped until RM5.77,
I lost around 10%.....

After a few days,
I went to the nearest AEON shopping mall and walked around.
It was friday afternoon,
AEON business was good, a lot of customers,
so I was filled with confidence,
went home and bought more AEON shares.

Even today(31st July 2011) I still holding those AEON shares,
thanks to AEON,
I received more than one hundred passive income this month.

The end of old article.

Those AEON shares,

I hold it until year 2014,
the share price rose to almost RM16.

Then bonus issues and split,

AEON shares from one share RM16 became 4 shares RM4.
(I can't remember the exact price, but should be around that price....)

As a result,

my cost of AEON shares became one share RM1.50 only.

Someone I know who also acted as my "contrarian indicator" in share market,
"realized" that AEON is so "cheap" at RM4,
so he bought some AEON shares,
and dreamed that AEON will "rose back" to RM16 again in a short time LOL.

I was alerted,
so I decided to sell 16% of my total AEON shares at the price RM3.96.

At December year 2014,
I saw AEON share price dropped until RM2.79.
So I bought some thinking that it will not drops any further.

But AEON profit kept on dropping,
So at October 2015 and January 2016,
I almost sold all my AEON shares at around RM2.70,
left a little bit for souvenir~

The cost money that I invested at AEON was around RM5000,
I earned RM4300,
5 years.

If only I sold all at RM3.96 last time,
I can earn another RM4000 more..............
but yeah is too late to regret now.....
I didn't expect that GST will creates such a scary impact at AEON........

Well,
I earned less RM4000, not RM40000~
So no need to be very sad though~

Thanks for reading.
